It took 40 minutes .... for an ambulance to come to my house while I had a kidney stone. Now THAT was a painful wait. Once you experience that, even waiting for the late pizza man is a pleasure.

Just thought my little (true) story might lighten things up. People seem so tense today.

Really I mean... 40 minutes!

WOW...

You really should take your business elsewhere...

(Ok, bad joke, but figured what the heck... Hope you're feeling better...)

This happened awhile ago. But when I feel impatient it makes me think about how much worse a long wait can be.

Perhaps everyone needs a kidney stone at least once in life.

Nah, I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

Ouch! Great analogy, eturkey.

Before MTV, films and commercials were not routinely cut within 5 sec's or less. What they lack in substance they make up for in speed. Next came computers along with the more/faster mentality to satisfy limited attention spans. Remember Bill Gates' infamous quote: "640K ought to be enough for anybody"? More than ever, patience is a virtue. Even little kids are stressed out, thanks to computers, video games, and information overload in general. No wonder ADD is the current fad diagnosis. Perhaps the silcon chip is the greatest invention of the past 50 years. But is this truly progress or merely accelerated death via technology? Are people more intelligent and happier as a result? Is the world a better, safer place? I wonder.
