use nano

Why install pine? Nano is just as good and has a find - replace feature. Just ln -s /usr/bin/nano /usr/bin/pico if you want to use "pico"

/me loves nano more than pico! It supports newer features and has syntax colorisation, which is nice when editing PHP or config files.

my advice, learn some basic vi

there will be sometime when you'll face a shell without root privileges and you'll be stuck if you don't know at least basic vi editing

Learn vi and use vim

Vi/Vim is an amazing tool that has a lot of features. Once you learn the basics it is not that bad.
