You wont get a complex cluster (e.g. same physical server in multiple farms) with EV1. To do that you would require more advanced clustering which for a start would require multiple redundent internal networks (not one 10mb/sec PNET).
The "next best thing" is to use multiple servers in multiple datacenters using DNS round-robin, mysql cluster, unison and health checks that ensure that the DB is working to remove "dead" servers from the cluster.

Look at the picture again.
They are illustrating the load balancing of TCP 80, TCP 443, and a database port across multiple physical servers, any of which could be use for more than one service. For instance it is common for a physical web servers to be used to serve both 80 and 443, although both would be load balanced in different logical groups.

I used superb internet for a few servers before coming to EV1.
Although they do have great tech support, it took forever to get them to do anything. At times, it was a good 24 hours.
