Hello,

I am runing up2date -u and receiving these errors
Testing package set / solving RPM inter-dependencies...
There was a package dependency problem. The message was:

To solve all dependencies for the RPMs you have selected, The following
packages you have marked to exclude would have to be added to the set:

Package Name Reason For Skipping
======================================================================
bind-9.2.4-5_EL3 Config modified
bind-9.2.4-5_EL3 Config modified
bind-9.2.4-5_EL3 Config modified
bind-9.2.4-5_EL3 Config modified
bind-9.2.4-5_EL3 Config modified
bind-9.2.4-5_EL3 Config modified

Unresolvable chain of dependencies:
bind 9.2.2-21 requires libdns.so.8
bind 9.2.2-21 requires libisc.so.4
bind 9.2.4-EL3_10 requires libdns.so.11

I can add Bind it to skip list but its better idea to upgrade it
Can anyone please suggest how to upgrade Bind ?

Best Regards,
Pavel

Same problem here!!! Any help ?!
kamihacker
up2date --force bind-libs-9.2.4-EL3_10

from there it'll install the remaining rpm needed

after that remember to install the hotfix from ensim (4.0.2 or 4.0.1) since it will put your sites in inconsistent state

Knowledge Base 1891 (RHEL only)

What about this deal of breaking the configuration of the dns server, as claims this thread:

Yep:

To quote strainer on that thread: 12-24-2004 03:58 PM

Previously, upgrading from bind-9.2.4-EL3_10 stopped the named server and
removed the named service. This update preserves the named service state
across upgrades.

Hope they enjoyed turning off a few million name servers.

more info at

https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2004-696.html

so this has been fixed

I've performed it on three servers already, with no problems to date

Thank you very much, I will cross my fingers and update forcing...

But by the way, whay does this require you to force, if this should be a normal upgrade without trouble.
kamihacker
as I've been able to check to day Taroon Update 3 of RHEL didn't have bind-libs package, apparently this has been added on Taroon Update 4

add spamassassin to the exclude list of up2date with

up2date --configure

plesk seems to use a customized version of spamassassin

Thats what i did so far and it has worked but i thought there is a way around as well

You cannot update spamassasin since this package is maintained by swsoft people, you have to wait 'till they release a new spamassasin for plesk.
