Though I would assume that this would work on most any server, I had a hell of a time figuring it out...

/etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg

WorkDir: /home/httpd/vhosts/foo.com/httpdocs/bandwidth/
Target[foo.com]: 1:public@localhost
MaxBytes[foo.com]: 8000
Title[foo.com]: foo.com BANDWIDTH MONITOR
PageTop[foo.com]:

foo.com bandwidth monitor

Options[_]: bits,growright

Works on RH9 with mrtg-2.9.17 RPMs and also with mrtg 2.11 compiled.
