Hello there
I have plesk and proftpd installed on my server. And I run ftp server for all users within my server but the problem is that i want to ban users that try to connect every seconds.

I have searched that in proftpd mail list and i figured that out proftpd does not have any tool against hammering people. It has been suggested in the mail list that i shall use iptables to be able to ban hammering users.

Now i need a iptables script that can ban users that tries to connect more than 2 times in a minute for 30 minutes. I hope some of you may help me with this problem.

I am really bored of those people sucking my bandwith all the time.
Thanx In Advance.

iptables really is not the tool for this. There are several configuration options in proftpd that can help you limit users, such as MaxClients, MaxClientsPerHost, MaxClientsPerUser, MaxConnectionRate, etc. There are also some experimental throttle options such as TransferRate and others I can't remember right now. icon_smile.gif
