Some of my clients were having mail problems, yesterday. Restarting Exim didn't work, so I performed a graceful reboot.
I also did a dumb thing while I was at it, I guess... I saw a dns option called "Add a A entry for your host name". (maybe could be related?)
Anyway, now the local ISP (Time Warner Cable) cannot resolve names for any site hosted on my server! Tracert immediately responds with "cannot resolve hostname".. No hops, no nothing.
I know the server is up because I can do a remote desktop to another state and connect correctly from there. Also, dnsreport works just fine, as well.
I tried contacting Time Warner Cable and, after many "press 2 for this and that", ended up at a help desk in Canada. Of course, they just wanted to make sure my connection to the web was ok......
This happened once before and resolved itself over a couple of days. I have a customer who is down to the local market who is very irate so I'm hoping someone here might have an idea???
Thanks,
BC
P.S. If anyone else cares to test, one of the sites on the box (mine) is research4000.com
