Can i order a cpanel box with abc.com as the domain asked for during signup and then use def.com for the nameservers for the box (srv1.def.com and srv2.def.com)

I can't use def.com as the domain asked for during signup because i used it for another box i have at ev1.

The name of the server does not really mean anything, it is just an easy way for you to identify the server. You can also always use subdomain.domain.com
