It is always a good thing to go thru and harden your server, update software and such when you get a new server.

Are you running reloaded? if so, then yes, you will need to patch to the current level, check the downloads on plesks site.

Search these forums for the steps to disable direct root login, disable telnet, install a firewall, upgrade componet software, i.e. php, openssh, mysql, etc.., install anti-virus filters, change server name from default install of plesk.ev1servers.net etc.

These are all good things to do with a new server.
