Tried to renew one of my domains just now and got this error:
----------------------------------------
Error processing your renewal request
An error has occured while attempting to connect to the database. Please notify the system administrator of this error (database connection failed).
----------------------------------------
Probably a universal error, right? Don't tell me it's my fault and I have messed up EV1 or Tucows database!
But since that domain is expiring in 5 days ... :worried:

I observed the same problem and ev1 is aware of the problem and currently working on it according to an email reply from
domain@ev1servers.net that I received 2 hours ago.
You can still renew expired domains after no more than 30 days from the offical expiry date. So you still have a pretty large margin of error for any possible delay due to the current incidence.

Just got a response from them as well.
Talking about renewing expired domains: yes, there is usually a registrar-level grace period of up to 45 days for most decent registrars; but then we shouldn't take that for granted, since once it's thrown into RGP, you're gonna pay some extra, "recovery" fee.

I hope that domains that need renewing today will not be disactivated because we can not renew them because of this problem.
It would be nice if EV1 could reasure us on this point.

well... i think they're disrespecting us
a problem like that should never took more than 2 hours to be fixed IMO (well... i don't know exactly what's the problem, but in last case a backup could have be put to let the system working while it's really fixed)
now i need to register with another registrar (which i don't like, since it would be better to keep all domains in one place)

Hello,
I have 9 domains to register since yesterday and 3 to renew. When will this be fixed?

I am really worry about the renews I have to do. Mainly becouse domains at ev1 stops working as soon as the expiration date arrives. So if this keeps on for long it will give us big problems with our customers.

Yeah, they don't have a little grace period of even a few days. Hmm ...
