Full Version: Cpanel Licensing for VPS

I put in a ticket yesterday to request a cpanel license for my VPS and was told to contact customer service and they could do it with no problem.

Now I am being told that I can't. I don't mind paying the 15-20 extra a month for a cpanel license, but just trying to figure out how to do that.

Check the SW-Soft forums, there is some talk about cPanel, what it breaks, what not to let it update on install, and a few other things. Your only option may be to purchase a license from another vendor and install it yourself.

Hi,

Isabel said they would have cPanel VPS licenses available in a few weeks.

I have been looking at DirectAdmin as well. They only cost like $5 per VPS license once you're authorized to resell them for VPS servers. Their new interface looks good too.

I talked to Sales and they told me you can do that in your member's server upgrades page. They weren't sure about cPanel VPS licenses, but that's where they directed me.

It's $150 setup and $10 a month. I was thinking about getting it once I setup a VPS for it, but it'll break something you say?

Hmm, time to look at those forums.
Insyder
Are vps licenses any cheaper? $10 monthly isn't bad at all, but the $150 setup could hurt a bit.

WE do not currently have CPanel for Virtuozzo licenses. These may be available in a few weeks.

One step at a time. We're learning at the same time you are.

Good point HS, however if we didn't take those Plesk licenses we're kind of screwed webhosting wise. Not to mention, Plesk is a good product and all, just not my client's prefered admin panel.

Any kind of update on this when you have more information would be nice. This'll help us roll out those VPS hosting packages alot faster and start providing them to the mainstream.

Here's a place that sells VPS licensing:

https://www.cplicensing.net/pricing.php

$25 a month for a VPS license. Eh, in the long run (Yearly) EV1 is still cheap, but by only $30ish. At least this way I can try out and see if cPanel will do decently on a VPS without dropping $150 at once.
Insyder
Not a bad price, but I think HS could hammer out something better.
GetWired
I agree, but I hope it's sooner instead of later. rolleyes.gif

cpanel would be nice to have to offer.

Here Here! Look forward to news about CPanel VPS licenses!

Response from cPanel:

Dear Brian,

Hello. Thank you for your e-mail and for your interest in our cPanel software and our Partner NOC Program and licensing for virtual servers. There is currently a minimum of 20 virtual servers needed to become a Partner NOC and the pricing is set at $8.00 per license per month for all virtual servers except Virtuozzo, which are $7.00 per license per month. More information regarding the Partner NOC Program can be found on the Partner NOC Application/Agreement here: http://layer1.cpanel.net/partnerapp.pdf It is 14 pages long and includes a great deal of very important Partner NOC information and account rules (Terms and Conditions), so please be sure to read over this very carefully. If you should have any questions regarding this or if there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to your reply!

$7 for VPS licensing, yet other companies are charging upwards of $25-$45.

Eh... EV1 better get on this quick.

1st because I know they'll give us a better deal, and 2nd because I want it NOW!! icon_wink.gif

$15

EV1 should so beat that!
Insyder
It feels like an auction in here.

I have 45, do i hear 35....we got 25....how bout 15.....got 15.....and EV1s bid?
HeadSurfer
Our pricing will be a 10 pack fvor $70, basically $7 per license. There is very little margin from Cpanel for us to be able to offer these licenses any cheaper.

Unlike the normal licenses, our volume does not earn us a significant discount.
GetWired
Hmm, well I really only need 1...

But that is a damn good deal HS. Much thanks! icon_biggrin.gif
isabel
cPanel licenses should be available by Monday - $70/month for 10-packs.

Pricing for Plesk 100 domain and unlimited domain upgrades will also be available next week.

Additional Virtuozzo servers will be available around November 15.
DomineauX
Great price HS....I only wish we could buy them in smaller increments to avoid paying for something monthly when it is not in use yet. Not quite the same as buying a bunch of SSL certs as a pack, because the paid for time does not start running till you put it to use. If we bought a 10 pack of these licenses because we needed 1 or 2 for customers right now, that would be 8 licenses that we are just losing money on until we sell them.

Will the 10 pack option be the only cpanel license offering or will there be single or smaller pack options at a comparable price?
GetWired
Yeah, we don't want to bite you guys on the butt after you give us a great deal, but DomineauX makes a good point.

If I just need 1, I'll end up losing alot of money. Looks like I have to buy the one for $15. *shrug*

If I purchase a 10 pack and do not need all 10 myself, can the extra be resold to other server owners who are in need of a Cpanel license?
hbouma
Hi,

Its been 10 days since the date when cPanel licence packs "should be available" and they're still not available. Any update on when we can start ordering the licence packs? Or are you just going to roll them out with the servers next week? Thanks!
