Hi guys,

Can you guys shed some light for a way to detect ratware on a server?
RisingHost
what is ratware?

Quick search on google does not really give any useful links about what ratware is. I have never heard of it.

I am actually trying to find out myself.
Ratware is what they call "spam software".
I am trying to find out if they mean there is a software called ratware or if any script used for spam is called ratware.

Either way, yesterday I had an issue where port 443 died and to free it up we had to kill sendmail and httpd then restart it.

I was told it is most likely "ratware" and that is what I am trying to find out.
What it really is and how to detect it.

Hi Aussie,
I did read your message and it does not help me as the problem I am facing is that the ratware supposedly is on my server.

PS. I do use your rule and it does work very nice on incoming mail icon_smile.gif

"detect ratware on a server" I do not believe it is something placed on your server, you want to try to reject it and stop the process. Using the post about it by aussie is the way to go, it addresses your problem. Here is a bit more information:

Ratware itself is just the "software" that is used by the spammer, your goal is to stop it/block it.
