I keep getting internal server errors in the control panels. I also have a problem with the server crashing and not being rebootable through my internet connection.

Rebooting the server takes care of the internal server erros for a while, but they come back after about 4-6 hours. If i don't reboot it a couple times a day, it crashes and becomes unavailable. This is killing me because my hosted sites also can't access the server.

I have had this problem since day one, but it has only gotten worse. I'm afraid that if i keep going i'm going to get to a point where the server is useless.

-MySQL tables are also getting corrupted.
-Some of the directories and files on the site are no longer able to be edited, renamed, deleted, or altered in anyway.

Does anyone have any idea what i can do about this?
I haven't even had the server for a month yet, it's so screwy that i'm afraid to host anyone at this point.

Sounds like you are having hard disk error problems...probably a bad HD. I would backup everything...contact rackshack.net and see about having them replace the hard drive...

I have heard several RS users with similar problems. This should not be anything new to tech support.

Hi,
We read your story FireHawk. We have the same problem with our server from the first day with RS. The tech. support became to gnore our situation and claimed that this is a software problem from our side.
We had with another company a cobalt raq 4i with 128M RAM and about 18G Of storage Capacity, we moved our same Software to the new cobalt raq 4i with better resources 512M RAM and about 45G of storage capacity. Since that time we have been encountring several crashes per day.
The rackshack support staff claimed that we had to do a full restore, we agreed on that since we had no choice. After a very long time (more than 24 hours) we had the server again, we accessed the control panel and before doing anything we had "Internal Serve Error" (So how can they claim that a problem that caused by our software) which continued later repeatedly. And before restoring our data we had the server crashed again. They claimed that the crash is because of our tar operations (We think that it is not reasonable), so we stopped them. Finally the server crashed because we installed the mysql package.
We lost our customers and their trust. We had a bad position in the competition market. We paid too much money on overseas phone calls since the trouble ticket is not feasible and slow.
We are not operating something abnormal, and we still working with a minimal work. We have only about 70 virtual sites, a freemail service with about 1000 users, and PHPMyadmin chat, and all of these were working very well on the old server.
The RS tech support insisted that there is nothing to do with it except to reboot it each time it crashes, so we need a dedicated person to monitor the advent of crash to reboot it. We told them that from the above indications we can conclude that it miht be something in the hardware, network or the operating system especially we have several crashes before installing anything on it, but refused that analysis and said that there is nothing wrong with Hardware and it is a software problem.
Can somebody help?

Hello,
Your story is something like 'I know that problem' .... icon_wink.gif

We had 2 Headsurfer Raq4i from Rackshack, and we hosted over 150 customers. Also for us, the 2 servers are very instables, and after few days, the main server crashed. Our 2 daily backups are corrupted... There was nothing to restore ;(
After 72 hours, the server was restored and up again. But at the first Cobalt Package installation, it crashes again !?
Well, we ask a new restore, but that one was done in about 4 hours (thanks Patrick)
Then we try top install the first Cobalt Package (OpenSSH) and we noticed that it's impossible to install anything.... The server make the install, but nothing happens. We try many other packages (MySQL, NeoMail, Webalizer, ....) and nothing want to install on it. Patrick have take a look, and the only comment i received is 'gotcha'

Now, we taked 2 new servers at a other ISP. And you know what ? After 3 months, we had no crash.... Everything run smooth, without any problem. If we have a problem, and have to restore a server, it's done in 45 minutes !!!! and it cost ... $25

WOW.

At Rackshack we paid $250 for a bad 2 hours restore ?!!!

I don't want to say where we are now, but mail me, and i tell you. The price i a little bit higher the RS, but what a service !
