I am a beginner in server management, so got a question.
I am trying to use file include="../somehitng.asp" but it is causing trouble due to ".." part.
i heard that i have to check my internet Information Services Manager and change the settings in order to use ".." in my includes.
But how do i access Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager?
is it through helm? or how do i do it?
I am a beginner also and I asked the same sort of question. Here is a good explanation of the answer: (originally posted by Vinnie Pasetta)
In order to access the IIS Manager, you will have to remote connect INTO your server box (this allows you to see your server as if you were actually there). Do the following:
On your Windows Server 2003, you will connect via the Remote Desktop feature. This allows you to have access just as if your sitting there.
Assuming you have Windows XP, you can use the following command at Start > Run
mstsc.exe /console /v:111.222.333.444
(Replace 111.222.333.444 with your actual IP address.)
This will put you in at the console level. You can also go to Run > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection which creates a similar terminal services session.
Just login to the server on either session with the logon details EV1 sent you.
*the Username for remote desktop access is Administrator - and the password was given to you when you got the server*
After you are in - you will be at a normal desktop - this is the desktop to your server.
To get to IIS, go to Start -> Accessories -> IIS
I really hope this helps you!! Like I said, I'm new to this too so I know how frustrating it can be!
Good luck!

I think the easiest way to start the Internet Services Manager is by simple click "Start > Run > inetmgr" on your Remote Desktop

either way works, this is just the shortcut, it's the name of the saved MMC Console
