Hi,
I picked up a RH7.1 which has no control panel. I didn't need a control panel for my project so that was ok.
I know how to operate apache and everything, however how do I create email accounts (imap) on the server? I only need to create 1 or 2 imap accounts.
I sent an email to
blablabladssd4@domain.com and it didn't bounce back, where did it go?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Is it definately qmail? I don't seem to see it under RH7.1. Is there anything installed under RH7.1 by default which will let me create 1 or 2 IMAP boxes? Are there any manual ways of doing it?
Thanks for your help.

I've been trying to setup a similar thing but I want it to be setup under a VIRTUALHOST I created. Say, my virtualhost is
www.mydomain.com
I want to setup mail accounts/aliases (POP3+SMPT) like
myname@mydomain.com ,
hisname@mydomain.com ,
hername@mydomain.com
Any info on this ? I'd really like some since I'm new to linux, made the big mistake of buying a plain box (didn't know it was empty

, and need to setup since I have paid money, hehe..
So if anyone is

(cool) enough, please help me out, I'd be eternally grateful

The best would be to install webmin, it can do this for you.

Hey, thanks for the really prompt reply. I did install webmin, but I'm not sure how it does this. Webmin is just a frontend to configure the server, isn't it ? But I don't have QMail installed, what daemon would I need exactly to do this thing ? I need something right ? (or do i already have it ?)

From the screenshot, I think it uses sendmail. If sendmail isn't on your system, I can't really help you because I'm no linux wiz.
Qmail can be found on
http://cr.yp.to/qmail.html
Try
www.rpmfind.net to find sendmail rpms, but I recommend qmail.

Yeah, I have sendmail. I'm no linux wiz, like my sig says, so can someone please help me out and tell me how I set it to the virtualhost ? Also, can someone please tell my how to make/insert MX records, since it seems that is required and no one seems to have the info..

You can insert the MX records in BIND. IF you have a plain redhat box, install webmin and everything will be a lot easier!

I'm just trying to do pretty much the same thing. To get the hang of sendmail, take a look at the readme at /usr/share/sendmail-cf/README
If that gives you a headache, try
http://www.sendmail.org/virtual-hosting.html which gives some basic instructions that I believe will work on our servers without changing the configuration files (although mine was set up to use hash rather than dbm, so you should check that).
I'm not 100% sure it all works yet though, cos I haven't finished figuring out how to check my mail - that's next on my list

Well, I managed to install postfix AND qpopper correctly. Now I just have to setup the POP Before SMTP authentication, any help with that ?

Have you done MX entries with your name servers for your doamin.Just check that. Also check your firewall if its blocking ports 25 ,110 and imap. You can use any MTA (sendmail, postfix, qmail),but i think for a small setup like urs sendmail is enough.
