G'day

I've recently purchased my first ev1server and I have question regarding the machines default hostname/domain.

It is currently set to 'plesk7.ev1servers.net' I wanted to change this to 'svr1.mydomain.com' via SSH shell.

Will this break Plesk since I've already started using the control pannel etc and upgraded it from 7.0.0 to 7.1.2 ??

install plesk reloaded 7.1.3 and do it via plesk.

if you dont want to do it that way

login ssh
#############To Change Server Name###########
#change the name in /etc/hosts/##################
vi /etc/hosts
#change it in network##########################
vi /etc/sysconfig/network
#set the hostname############################
hostname name.server.tld
#plesk reconfigurator###########################
. /usr/local/psa/bin/reconfigurator.sh
##############done########################

best regards,

The above how-to that you qouted will not work on plesk7.* ..as reconfigurator.sh no longer handles that function. If you search the how-to section of this forum...you will find a how-to by myself that includes a link to a scritp called hostname.sh...that will work for all versions of plesk (and a few other cp's as well ...as long as it isn't winblows).

well any way the vi of the hosts file and the network files works, then go to plesk admin panel and go to server and then preferences and there you can change it again for the db records, i have done it that way and yet it still works (surelly not used the reconfigurator file)
