I ordered an dedicated server and "domainname.com" from EV1. I want to use my server as name server for my clients like "ns1.domainname.com" and "ns2.domainname.com". In other explanation, I want to my clients use their name server (ns) of reseller domain name ("domainname.com").

I had a lot of diffucult and unsuccesfuly time with plesk control panel and EV1 domain management panel.I read a lot of howto and dialog in EV1 forums, but i am confused and couldnt understand mechanism of domain name system.

I have a domain name ("domainname.com") and a dedicated from EV1 and i want to set up my server as ns via using "domainname.com". Please someone help me. Thanks.

Where did you registered your domain name?

go there, login, and see if you are able to create your own nameservers..

keep in mind that you will have to ask EV1 for another 2 ipaddresses to host your nameservers in

lets say they give you

100.100.100.1 and 100.100.100.2

go to your registrar as i sayd, if you can create your own domain based nameservers (NOT EDIT YOUR ONES, CREATE NEW ONES)

create ns1.yourdomain.tld pointing to 100.100.100.1
create ns2.yourdomain.tld pointing to 100.100.100.2

I hope my info helps you.

best regards,

Read that post carefully as Editing your nameserver and creating new or "Registering" nameservers is different.

Don't forget to map the IPs to your eth0 device you get from EV1 and setup DNS templates in Plesk for youre clients ns.*.

Be sure to put in reverse lookup in for your nameservers as some "dumb" nameservers don't like it if this is not set.
