Hello all!
I currently have several Ensim servers, and the more I use them the less I like them...particularly the newer incarnations. For this reason, I think that any more servers I buy will probably be something else - likely CPanel.
My questions for you are this:
1. How resource intensive is CPanel? If you happen to know, please compare it to Ensim.
2. What are the security issues with it? The reason for this question is that a long time ago I (heard/read) that CPanel was far less secure than Ensim.
3. How would you rate administration ease in general? I have gotten used to working with Ensim, so even though it is a system hog, I can work in it with relative ease.
4. End user experience. How do the customers like it?
Thanks in advance for any insight you have.

I have found it to be easier to keep my box working with CPanel. I can quickly recompile Apache and PHP with the modules I need as well as install and update software without always wondering if it will break the control panel. Nightly it automatically does security updates for me and you can configure it to do full CPanel updates as well if you wish.

1) It is not very resource intensive and from what I have heard it is about equal to ensim. As long as people are not using cPanel/WHM it does not use anything.
2) The default install of cPanel vs Ensim in high security is less secure. However if you secure it and use software like mod_security your server will be fine. There are a few guides and suggestions on the forums. It is possible to lock the server down. cPanel also has come a long way in terms of security, you just can never let your guard down.
3) cPanel is pretty hard to break. As long as you stick with the stable release you can do just about anything to the system with no fear. Unlike ensim cPanel does not release and special rpms. If I want to recompile ssh or apache myself I can. If it messes up (which I have never had happen) you can use WHM to install the latest rpm.
4) All my customers love it. The interface has a lot of options and the users can do a lot from their control panel.

That is pretty much my gripe with Ensim at the moment - if a customer DARES use the control panel, Ensim eats server resources like there is no tomorrow...

Ok well let me put it this way. I run multiple servers and I never really notice a load spike with the cPanel interface. If somebody gets online it will not automatically make the load jump up. I can be recompiling apache and use the control panel with no problem. Maybe it does not use as much as enism

I wouldn't doubt it - Ensim is a real pig.
BTW - thanks for the responses.
