Hello,

we've noticed in the last couple of days, that AOL is rejecting emails sent
from our server. I've checked our rDNS setup and it seems to be fine,
and has been for quiet sometime, this just seemed to start up recently.
We are running the lastest Exim, updated over the weekend. Here is one of
the communications while sending out an email:

Again this just started in the last day or two.... has something suddenly
changed that I may not be aware of, some addition changes in the exim.conf needed, ???

We don't Use MailScanner either.

Any suggestion or help much appreciated.

Greetings:

Read http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/421sdit1.html which was in the error message.

You may have some one abusing one or more formmail scripts on your server or otherwise spamming from your server.

Thank you.

As far as I know, that shouldn't be a problem. We have 5 accounts that send out daily newsletters, twice a day, approx., 2-300 emails(mass mailer), and the majority are sent to AOL users, but we've never had any problems untill the last day or two.... strange. They've been running these mailing lists for about 3+yrs icon_smile.gif

I'll look into the error URL. Thx's

Make sure two things:

1. That the hostname of the machine has an A record to point to the IP that is using.

2. Has a reverse dns record in ev1servers DNS. You can do this in members' area page. ip -> hostname.

If you don't have a reverse dns pointer for the hostname of the machine, AOL will reject any mail you send to them. Their servers run a check on hostnames that send mail to their mailservers, and if they do not resolve, they assume the IP is forged and drop your connection.

that's my concern. Our rDNS was setup a long time ago, working fine, this just happened within the last day or two ?? Unless EV1 has changed something recently.

We investigating it now.

I had the same problem, it was our firewall.
