Full Version: What's pre-installed with HELM on W2k3 Box?

Maybe its me but when i purchased my box with HELM, there seem to be some problems.

1. My Computer Name does not resolve to 127.0.0.1
2. My Reverse Look - ups for my IPs does not return a reverse ptr... strange, but its there in the DNS manager.
3. MailEnable , MSSQL already installed when I first logged in...???

Is this normal?

I had win2k3 WE standalone before this, this is my second server, and I thought getting HELM was good for giving my clients more control when it comes to managing and reselling...

so far only headaches.

1. http://forums.ev1servers.net/showthread.ph...&threadid=46759

2. You should only be concerned with Forward Lookup Zones, if you need a Reverse DNS record, you have to request that be added to EV1's DNS through your control panel. You do not have the authority over Reverse DNS.

3. The MSSQL you see is the default instance of the helmdb which is the MSDE engine. A highly scaled back version of MSSQL.

I had no idea that EV1 was delivering boxes with MailEnable, it shouldn't be there as far as I am aware. Look in the Event Viewer at the logs and try to figure out if someone was @#!@#!@#!@#!ing around in your box before it was delivered to you.

Thank you CornFused...

MailEnable Standard was originaly preinstalled for me with a preinstalled domain named ev1server

Strange isnt it?

Not sure if when the Tech formated and loaded their HELM image correctly.

Anyways.

I am having a problem with my IIS. as when i do...

http://localhost/site_id

is not returning anything.

Also I have noticed that HELM with windows is very unstable, my system crashed well over 5x in the course of 4 days.

I can never seem to login to HELM ADMIN
"Unable to log in due to a configuration problem. Please contact support."

Ahh the headache with HELM

Wow I noticed the Problem...

I order the Value Package of the Windows 2k3 + Helm,

which is on a celeron system. 512 Mb ram

They gave me the following:

p4 2.4 gig, 1024 ram, windows 2k3 standard + helm...

i knew it was strange cause the event log had 4 different SERVER NAMES...

what the hell is going on???

In helm Control Panel, I found there to be 6 servers in the Database config... (not sure if it suppose to show that many)

hmm...

I hope EV1 clears this up and not charge me an arm and a leg for again.

second time they screw up pre-installation of a box for me.

I've found the 1.71 version. Do I have to upgrade it to 1.9? Remove and install or upgrade over old version?
Thank you.
