Any tips on this one? If I run easyapache or up2date, my box becomes unresponsive and I need to request a reboot.

It never seems to happen in the same places. Last night when I ran easyapache, it got all the way up to making php before crashing. This morning, I run it and it hung within 30 seconds.

EV1 checked the memory and drive and they both check out ok.

I am really stumped right now.

cpup worked last night... one good thing.

Any suggestions?

Well... they put my drive in another box and everything works beautifully now. Must have some hardware thing but not in the memory or in the drive itself.
