It turns out that the person who setup our server set the main shared IP address the same as our primary nameserver IP.

If we had cPanel change the primary IP to one of our free IPs, how much downtime would this cause for all of the shared IP sites? Would it cause any downtime? Is there any way I could minimize this downtime?
