Full Version: DNS problems, need help, willing to pay

I am new to Cpanel, and I think I might have slightly broken the DNS for our server. We set up our nameservers and a few domains. When we view the domain name we see the directory page. However, it should load the pages in the account such as index.htm but those files are not there.

When we go to http://***.***.***.***/~account_name we see the index file clearly.

Does this sound familiar to anyone out there our anyone know where we went wrong? I'm open to people IMing me to help, I'm even willing to pay someone for their help (depending on costs).

Please contact me if you can help

Greetings:

If you put in your domain name, and you see a Web directory index; then it shounds like your DNS is working perfectly fine.

The issue appears to be your Web server configuraiton.

Do you have the DirectoryIndex set up for the file name you consider to be your home page?

Most servers, by default use "index.htm" or "index.html" (case and spelling matters).

If you don't want to touch your Web server configuration right away, try changing the home page within your directory to index.htm and refresh your browser.

Thank you.

We appear to have fixed our problems just after the post. However I'm not sure if it's 100% resolved as when you visit http://www.cpanel-server.net/mambo/ in IE you get the mambo script as installed by fantastico. If you go to the same url in AOL (I know it's a pants ISP but can't just ignore it) you get a 'this page cannot be found' error.

Has anyone got any idea's??

Greetings:

You may have directory indexes turned off, and no home page.

It is hard to tell from the outside looking in.

Thank you.
