Hello,
Can anyone provide instructions or special requirements for installing JDK on Redhat boxes with CPanel installed - are there any issues or security problems, will it work with /tmp mounted with noexec, does the /etc/profile need to be changed in any special way, should it be installed in /usr/local or elsewhere, should it be given to specified bash account profiles only etc - cant seem to find much information on it in the forums.
We have some users that require to use java to compile stats for their sites and wondered if anyone who has enabled this can give their input - whether its ok or if that type of access is a bad idea and if it might slow the boxes down. Your help is much appreciated.
TIA
Mike

If you are running Fedora or RHE it doesn't properly integrate at this time. There are several threads about it on the Cpanel forums, but you can only manually do everything right now and even that is iffy.

Its ok I installed the JDK onto the server and Java is now running as required - I expect you are talking about JSP on RHEL or Fedora and running Tomcat with Apache which currently isnt working - thats not what I was after.
I needed to run java commands on the box which I have now managed to achieve. Thanks for your reply.
