Timeout while trying to fetch
http://web.cpanel.net/whmnews/nph-index.cg...0-30.9...Unable to fetch Web Host Manager news. The News server may be down or unreachable.

Make sure you have your network set up correctly. I had this issue, and I wasnt getting out to the net at all on the box.

Make sure in the /etc/resolv.conf you have
nameserver 127.0.0.1
nameserver 207.218.245.135
nameserver 207.218.247.135
