I have an entry in localdomains for 'cpanel.ev1servers.net' When I removed this, WHM was not working. I put it back and all was working again.
Now, if I goto my ip as such
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/dir
leaving the / off the end, the server tries to goto cpanel.ev1servers.net

My question is, is this part of the licensing? Why was I unable to remove it? Is there a way around this? https.conf has a valid hostname for the ServerName directive...

did you change the servers hostname? After changing the hostname go ahead and restart all services.
