Hello,

we are considering install the MailScanner per the instruction outline on the cpanelplus.com site... this would be a new install and was wondering what the real Pros and Cons are installing it on a Cpanel box ??

And if we install it, what do we need to keep it up-to-date and updated properly, to utilize the full benefits of the MailScanner ??

Do we need to continuely manual modify the exim.conf file each time we upgrade our Cpanel/WHM and Exim is updated ??

Any feedback would be much appreciated before we decide whether or not to install it.

TIA,
Mickalo

There is a slight (and i mean slight) mail load increase. We send out 1000's of emails each day, and they are checked fine. However, one of our users sends out a bulk mail list of 10000 and that can sometime increase the load as each email is scanned.

Updates are done nightly via /script/upcp by cpanel, and its pretty good. Installation is pretty easy, although you will need to edit the MailScanner.conf file a bit - its a really big one, so i'd recommend setting aside a good 10-15 mins to get to grips with it.

Yes, we have four accounts that send out daily mass mailers, approximately 4-500 emails twice a day, per account, so I figured on a slight load increase, no problems there.

Are you saying that once the MailScanner is initally installed, the Cpanel/WHM updates via the upcp script, will automatically keep the MainScanner up to date also ??
