Full Version: After running RedHat Enterprise 3.0 update. cgi scripts stop working. Fix!
The Planet Forums > Control Panels > Plesk
PastorAlan
After installing the new RedHat Enterprise 3.0 update offered
by EV1 , all scripts started giving error: This was on a Plesk box.
Premature end of script headers: 500
The Enterprise update does update & over-write a lot of files.
If I had to do it again I'd say, " If it aint broke don't fix it."

Anyway, here's the fix that worked for me.

ssh into server as root.
Use the following command.
cp /usr/sbin/psa-suexec /usr/sbin/suexec
When asked to overwrite, do Y.
You will need to reboot the server.

I did notice it took the server several minutes to reboot
but I guess it just had to chew on the new info.
After the reboot all scripts worked as they should.

Hope this is of help to some...

You do not need to reboot he server after you change the suexec.
PastorAlan
That is very true in most every case I've seen until this one.
However, after installing the RedHat Enterprise 3.0 update
a reboot was necessary before the scripts would function again.

If you update redhat entreprise you will broke plesk !

Plesk wont realy run on Redhat enterprise , EV1 have to put some RH9 Rpm to make it running well...

If you have updated it you problably have broken more thing ...

Like Frontpage or tomcat also if you use it ...

You cant upgrade until plesk provide a RHE3 Version... :-(
4PSA
You can upgrade to RHEL 3, but you have to use the httpd rpms from Redhat 9.

I've pretty much tested the entire system and nothing seems to
be broken. Up2date ? Not sure I would install it. I'll wait to see
what others say after they attempt it.
As I've said before. " If it aint broke don't fix it "

Thanks All.

You will be pretty more secure whit up2date, you can skip the package you dont want to update, at this time all this can't be upgrade, if you upgrade whit apt like apt upgrade/install you will broke plesk if any of those is installed or upgraded... ;

All this came from RH9 if you upgrade
those you run into trouble..;

How do you use RH enterprise? Do you treat it like RedHat 9?

I'm trying to download RPMS from rpmfind.net, but none of them list redhat enterprise as an option.
4PSA
RHEL binaries are not public available. You can run up2date to install packages: up2date mrtg for example.
PastorAlan
Looks like we have a cure !

As last , up2date is available.
However, for now you must email Patrick: see below.
Once you have registered just run the following from
ssh root.
apt-get update
It will update all needed files as needed within a
few seconds.

For now you'll have to email me your account info for up2date to be added to an existing RHEL server. The up2date account is our master account and we cannot give out the username/pass. For new RHEL servers, they will already be registered. Please allow time for me to register it once you email me, expect it within 24-48 hours.

up2date pine didn't return any results. Does Enterprise not have pico?
raventec2
Ronny, no pico it seems, but nano was on my RH Enterprise. nano seems to be almost exactly the same as pico.
