I just got my server from ev1 yesterday. I've used cpanel servers before, but it's been ages since I set one up. Something just doesn't feel right, and I want to make sure I've not missed anything.
I've always used my own nameservers, but it seemed like it would be fastest to use the ev1 nameservers this time.
Under edit setup, I have my IP address, and for nameservers, it is the ns1 and ns2.ev1servers.net I clicked to add A entries and each time, it said
"Zone ev1servers.net does not exist, a new zone for ns1.ev1servers.net will be created.
ndc: connect failed: connection refused
Created DNS entry for ns1.ev1servers.net
Add Complete "
Hostname is what came with it.
For resolver configuration, I was unsure so I kept 127.0.0.1 for the primary, and used the IP numbers from the nameservers for the secondary and teritery.
I setup my mysql password.
And that's it. It seems like the last time I set up a server, there was a LOT more to it. Am I missing something?

Just as a warning, this is a very dangerous post. It's like yelling "I just setup my box and didnt secure it! come and get me!"
Please check out the security posts to lock down your box ASAP because script kiddies are running rampant.

Thank you, we'll do that right now
Where was the "I setup my Firewall" line?

I worked on that last night, thanks.
My question, though, was regarding the WHM and settings. Apparently I did something wrong because I created an account yesterday and changed the nameservers over. Now today, I get up and my site cannot be found. I still have a full copy on the server I'm moving from, so it should be visible for anyone, despite dns propagation. Did I do something wrong in the WHM setup?

If your site shows up when you "List Accounts" in WHM, it sounds more like you just need to wait for DNS propagation. Overnight really isn't enough time to change nameservers. Even though your registrar and Internic have updated, your ISP may still have yesterday's DNS in their cache. I know that when I change a nameserver, my office DSL line is updated quicker than my cable modem at home.

True, but since the site is still on the old server and it's still up and running, shouldn't the site still show up for me if my own isp has not updated it's dns? I should still see it on the other server.
Probably... Check DNSReport.Com and see if you have errors in your setup. If that doesn't indicate a problem, you might try using WHM to delete the site, and then re-entering it.

Thanks for the link!
It failed almost everything. I can't really delete the account, though, because that will delete the myql databases with it, right? I moved a huge forum over and can't lose it.
I registered a domain with ev1 when I ordered the server and just checked it in dnsreports and everything passed, and it's accessible via the browser.
So maybe it is just the one domain that I can't access because maybe it wasn't created properly.
To save the database from being deleted, can I make a copy in var/lib/mysql with a different name, and then change the name back after I recreate the account? Will that corrupt the database?

Sounds like what I would do, BUT I'm the wrong guy to answer that. If this
doesn't generate a response from one of the guru's here, search the CPanel forums here, and if you don't find an answer, ask the question in a new thread about the specific problem. One thing about these forums, search is your friend!
