Full Version: Force (SSL) secure logins in WHM and Cpanel - Questions

I've read the article written by ramprage (How To Force (SSL) secure logins in WHM and Cpanel) but have several questions:

- How do I go about setting up the SSL cert so that it is a secure connection for both WHM and Cpanel?

- Can this cert be used for other things that needing an SSL?

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!

If you have the SSL cert installed for the main account of the server you can easily block access via APF firewall to ports 2082 and 2086. Then allow ports 2083 and 2087.

I do this but when the user logs in they get a popup about the cert name not matching the users url, but it is a secure connection. There has to be a way to do this without getting the warning about the name on the cert.

Any ideas anyone??

Thanks:D

When you say install it in the main account are you talking - http://www.mainwhmaccount.com (so ports 2083 and 2087 are secure ports?)

Forgive my lack of knowledge.

Here is a search I did for SSL Certificate.. This was for cpanel servers only.
http://forum.ev1servers.net/search.php?s=&...rder=descending

Go through these and you will gain a world of knowledge. Im not trying to blow you off but there are a ton of ways to accomplish what you want to do.. It is just according to how you want to set the server up. Some folks setup a dummy account on the main IP like, secure.myhost.com and generate the cert for that account. So what they are saying is not to install the cert for your main domain name. This is what I did and I havent had any trouble but Im sure there are some that say I did it wrong. Look at some of those threads and choose the way you want to go..

Hope this helps..
