Hi there

Just got a new Cpanel server and had started to move some accounts over. Just noticed that on the new server it is asking for the name plus the domain name for emails in outlooks "username" field. For example:

john@somedomain.com

on the old server would be:

username "john"

on the new server it will only work with "john@somedomain.com"

Any ideas why this might be and is there a way to change it to how the old server worked otherwise it's going to take me a long long time to transfer all my domains and get my clients up and running again

Thanks

Yes, that is the way it is structured..
Only the default account does not need the domain suffix but all additional pops will need.
I went through the trouble... but out look auto config link in the cPanel may come handy..

Suggest, inform your customers before you move them so that you don't break the communication with your clients in case of no other email address.

Thanks for this - however, how come the original server (also CPanel) didn't require this? Is there anything I can do on the new server to switch it to the way the old one works?

Thanks

Hello,

I'm not sure about any earlier version, but you probably wouldn't want to do this for the following reason:

Most of the time, the domains are going to be on a shared IP and this would mean that standard addys, like support, sales, etc. would only be able to work on only ONE domain. That would create quite a few unhappy customers I'm thinking. By requiring the @desirename.com you get to have the same (sub-user only) standard addy on as many of the domains as you want. Much less limiting really.

I could be wrong of course; I am something of a newby....
