Full Version: ns1 and ns2 setup in WHM

I have a primary ip (x.x.x.18) and 2 requested ips (x.x.x.219 and x.x.x.220) for my ns(1,2).mydomain.com. I sent a ticket into RS to add this in their dns.

They did. They closed the ticket with:

I have added the following to dns:

ns1.domain.com -> x.x.x.219
ns2.domain.com -> x.x.x.220

Great, so my problem is, when I go into WHM and try to add in the entries for ns1 and ns2. When I enter my ns1.domain.com I get "This is already registered to x.x.x.18 (my main ip)".

How do I go about undoing this? I looked all around but couldn't find it. I found an entry in Manage Assigned Nameserver IPs but when I try to remove the x.x.x.18 I get
"Sorry, the nameserver ip 66.98.214.18 cannot be removing since it is still registered with an ICANN register. "

Granted I could be on the totally wrong path of things here, DNS is still a bit confusing to me.

Thanks
Dio
Giving you a bump because I have the same question.

Hello,

I didn't do this part at all with ev1. I assigned the IPs to the nameservers in my domain manager and then set them up in WHM. This seemed to work fine, as I have about 300 domains which I have set to these settings and they all go to the server fine.

I am having a prolbem that may be due to something I didn't do here though and this is with those domains that are set up under reseller accounts: they don't seem to ever propagate. Is it possible I need to do something with ev1 to get them to add me in to their dns so that I can get the other names to go through? If so, I have to wonder why the first names are working (ie those assigned by root).
