OK, I have a very small but serious problem. I disabled RDP for some dumb pathetic reason and now I lost all remote administration privledges to my server. I submitted a ticket to EV1 support and they are unable to enable RDP. The only way to do this now is to to a full system restore.. System Restore? No way guys.. I know that I can fix the problem remotely if i had a gui interface but how will i do this? The only way I can think about this is to upload pc anywhere and set it up remotely but still, i need to configure the server with pcany through the windows gui. Does anyone know another way to get some gui remote program to easily get to my server?

Thank you.

What exactly did you do to disable RDP? I'm sure I could get into your server, would just need to know what you did exactly to disable it.

Nevermind i fixed it. For some reason RDA was not working and strictly relies on the terminal services service to initiate properly.
What happened was I accidently installed terminal services for application support instead of Remote Desktop Admin. ( I was testing out some stuff hehe..) When this happened things got messed up after I tried to go back to RDA. Well after 12 hours i downloaded a piece of software called remotelyanywhere, which took me hours to look for because I needed a remote tool that can do a silent install without any user interaction. By Using telnet and ftp services i was able to execute the msi file and successfully established a connection remotel via http without rdp and term services.

Oh boy im tired !

I just hope that Ev1 can diagnose the problem with a little more effort. If they are lacking Microsoft Techs, hey Im MCSE and Im out of a job right now and would be more than happy to work with thier support staff for Windows servers!!!:-)

The problem is that these are unmanaged boxes, and EV1 doesn't want to handle any issue that's not their problem. For example, a HW failure occurs, and they'll fix it. If you lock yourself out, they go through some basic steps to help you out, but they avoid anything really "in-depth" and anything that would require diagnostics.

In the past, I've had techs recommending restore for unsupported things, and when provided with a checklist, they'll generally go down it for me. That at least lets me say, hey, do me a favor and check this, and if it's this, do this; Thanks...

So that's one of those borderline things. Technically you need physical access to the box, so they have to do it, but if it goes beyond the call of duty, then they can basically force you into a restore. Although, more often than not, the techs do go beyond the line of duty to get things working.

Glad you got it working.
