I am new to having full admin on my own physical server.. So I apologize in advance for such a question.. I learn quick and I just need few facts.

I have a Linux server with cPanel.

I have PuTTY and I know how to log into my system using root..

My question is this.. I need to install some software onto the server (ZEND)..

1) How do I install, using PuTTY or FTP?
2) Where do I install this, which directory? Do I unzip locally or on the server?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

You woudl install it via putty (ssh) though cpanel has the "package management" feature that will let you install stuff. For that matter if you compile apache with option 5 you already should have it.
