Full Version: Plesk for MTA?
The Planet Forums > Control Panels > Plesk

Hi

I am after a server to deal with very heavy email (not Spam) loads.

I have heard that Plesk with MTA Qmail is better than Cpanel with Exim.

Anybody comment on this, please?

Thanks

Most very heavy users of email tend to use qmail(netaddress, hotmail, several huge mailing list-only hosts, I'm running on memory so I'm short on details). Exim is "nicer" to work with, but that advantage is partially negated when you have a control panel to simplify things for you. However, qmail "tends" (this is a personal impression, and not a judgement on the quality of qmail) to be less forgiving of rfc-noncomplience from recipients, and less forgiving in general. If you have whiny users, you might appreciate exim more, unless your load locks up your copy of exim totally(that's rare but has happened to me due to a dns failure). But as I said, qmail is more the speed demon(hence why it's less forgiving, it has no time for such nonsense). Qmail hasn't seen a major upgrade in some time, so obviously the developer/current users seem to be happy with the product. You just have to figure out your own needs and see if you could be one of them.
