Full Version: having no exec permission on /tmp breaks mail and pine

Hi. It was suggested on another thread in this forum that it would be agood idea to not allow exec permission on the /tmp directory so as not to execute some hacker code which might be uploaded there. Well, I did try this by doing chmod o-x /tmp but that broke mail and pine which says it needs 1777 on /tmp so I had to change it back.

Just thought I'd let people know -- anyone have any other ideas on what to do about this?

Thanks.

Search on this forum. You must mount /tmp as a separate partition with nosuid, noexec options.
