Full Version: POP not working through Outlook

I have accounts set up on my new box with POP email accounts. I can login using Horde or squirrelmail an check mails with ease, however the accounts will not work with Outlook express. I just keep getting the error:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'xxxxx.ca', Server: 'xxxx.ca', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any ideas?

Fixed it.

The problem was related to another post where a name server error kept coming up. I selected Delete a DNS zone under WHM then deleted my hostname entry:

host.domain.com

Then I added an A entry. Everything works fine now.

Please just tell me, host.domain.com is.. namely


localhost.domainname.com. A 127.0.0.1 ...that' it?


and A record then you added is...


domainname.com. A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ?

The latter was not entried automatically when you setup that doamin?

For some reason cPanel adds the mail., www., and ftp. subdomains as CNAME records instead of A records.

I was having a problem where Outlook would reject my login. I was using mail.mydomain.com as my mail server and when I changed it to just mydomain.com it worked. So, I changed mail.mydomain.com to an A record and that solved the problem.
