I am new to Plesk and I don't really understand how to add domains and virtual accounts to my account. When I attempt to add one and go through the "Hosting" process and make it Physical hosting with a IP Based, I cannot do it again. I can't choose Name Based either. Do I need multiple IPs for this? I mean, does each virtual site need its own IP? Please let me know. Thanks.

If you use IP based sites, you need one IP per IP based site, which is generally not recommended these days (to conserve IPs). With name based sites only, then you only need one IP.

it keeps saying i cannot select name based.... do you know why?

Check if you have the permissions correctly set for this client. This might be the reason for your problems...

In case you need it, here is how to check:

login to your admin Plesk account, click on the user, click preferences, click permissions. At the lower part of the screen, you will see the settings for:

- client can create name-based hosting
- client can create IP-based accounts

Check if you have allowed name-based hosting...

I noticed that it was unchecked for the permissions. I checked it in and the options only show the Namebased hosting. Then I configured a hosting package but it kept on popping up "Unable to create/update phsyical hosting." I doublechecked to see if all fields were filled in, and they were all completely filled in. I still cant create :-( Please let me know if you can help.

This is kicking my butt, been working on this for 3 days of today. Every time I find a thread that pertains to the topic it just ends before anything is resolved, just as this thread has...

Trinity What problem are you having.

I had a simular problem. Go into the Plesk interface and make sure that when you are setting up Hosting on a website that the name based IP address is your default IP address. If it is not it will give you the error msg that was mention above.

I had to get the Tech to change it for me and everything was fine then.

God Bless!
