Hi folks,

I'm just at some concepts for a webhosting service.

I plan to do it with cpanel.

At first: Is this a good idea? Is CPanel suitable for newbies? (the customers, not me icon_smile.gif)

Then i would be thankful for some Tipps or Links for the following things:

- a Order/CRM-System for CPanel wich is available in German language and supports German and/or International Payment solutions and Domainregistrars.

- some nice Templates with Fantastico- and Urchin-Support and multilanguage (at least german)

- some hints how to make cpanel/redhat-Servers as secure as possible for webhosting-needs.

- any other help or hint you can give me relating this subject.

thanks for your help

Hi there,

Cpanel is probably your best option as far as starting out in the hosting company. If you haven't has a reseller account before, I would STRONGLY suggest getting one before you move onto a dedicated server. There is a lot of work, a lot of potential problems, and a lot of lost customers if you have no experience.

Cpanel is easy to use, and most people can understand it with little intruction. It also has a lot of cool things as you probably know like fantastico capability, and a lot of things that make life a little easier.

So basically I would suggest either paying a monthly fee to someone to update your server etc, or just get a reseller account first.

That's my 2 cents!

thanks for your reply icon_smile.gif

I already have 4 dedicated servers and even one with cpanel.

So the experience with dedicated servers schouldn't be a problem. I just wanted to have some hints espacially for webhosting needs, cause i don't have big experiences yet.
Espacially Software-Needs (things like modernbill or others) and special security needs which are necesarry if i have other people on the machine... icon_smile.gif

Sorry for that bad english - i hope you understand what i'm talking about icon_smile.gif

Thanks

I just started running modern bill, I'm very impressed. Works very well with cpanel, let me know if you have any questions specifically, I'd be happy to check.

Don't worry about your English, you haven't seem my German.. icon_smile.gif

thanks for your support, mitti.

what i really need is tools / scripts / templates with good german support (language, billingsystem, domainregistrars,...)

some basic (php-)development is possible but most of it should be ready to go.

I already have an eye on modernbill and it looks really great to me too, but i don't know if its german(y)-support is good enough though.

be sure to check out whmautopilot.com too, i perfer it to modernbill, as do others. it's all a matter of preference though.

first off modernbill is a mickey mouse app. second Modern bill has the worst customer support ive ever dealt with, ask them a question? you get nothing but copy and paste replies, i never used their system and was billed for 4 months after my attempted cancelation, i then asked for a refund, and just got a copy and paste of their "how to cancel modernbill" even though i already canceled 4 months previous. so i had to call my card in stolen to force cancel since they wouldnt cancel me mad.gif talk about a pain in the booty icon_sad.gif

save yourself a headache, DO NOT GET MODERN BILL

so what your saying is that your sole purpose in life is to flame modernbill? interesting . . . .
