I have searched (keywords: disable anonymous ftp) but didn't see an answer to this problem.

cPanel v7.4 & The lastest STABLE version just released (v8.4.0-S87).

RH v7.2

FTP Server: Pro-FTPd

When a user "Turns Off" Anonymous FTP, it still works. When I disable it for the whole server (which I do not want to do), it still works.

I also tried switching to Pure-FTPd. Same result.

The kicker with this server: This is the server I migrated to cPanel from Ensim on.

Any ideas on how to get this to work (preferrably) or to manually disable it on a per-domain basis? Worst-case is to disable it server-wide (clients can always use HTTP file transfers).

Anon FTP should be disabled for the server ip only. That allows anon ftp to work on a domain only basis based on whether the user has enabled it or not. If the user has disabled it and people can still ftp using anon ftp then you should be reporting this bug to Cpanel.

Pure-ftp: Once you install it users loose the ability to turn it on/off per domain basis because there is no support built into it by Cpanel. You also loose the bandwidth count stats. While it may be faster and nicer two important features are lost when you switch over to it. Its really up to you on what you want done.

Cpanel, i wish they would pull their heads out of their arses and include services that are completely supported instead of giving us services that half work. Why waste time adding something like pure-ftp if it can't count bandwidth and can't co exist with anon ftp from the control panel. rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the reply.

I had to configured correctly. The problem: The migration process from Ensim to cPanel. The Ensim Pro-FTPd was still being run, instead of the cPanel Pro-FTPd. Once I changed the startup script, automagically anonymoud FTP was disabled for the domains it was supposed to be disabled for.

This Ensim to cPanel migration apparently did not go as smoothly as I thought it did.

I'm thinking about ordering a 2nd hard drive with RH Linux v9.0 installed and migrating tot he 2nd hard drive (still thinking of the logistics with that one). There are other Ensim skeletons in this server. I see them daily in my log messages report. Unless I can completely get rid of Ensim, and not screw up cPanel in the process, I don't think these skeletons will ever go away .
