When I create a new name based account is there a way to access that account before the domain propagates thru all dns? I know on Raq boxes you could go to something like http://myip/~newacct and access your new page before www.mynewdomain.com was available.

Yes cPanel has this as well, You need to log into the root WHM and under server setup click Tweak Secutity then click mod_userdir Tweak and enable that

is this tomservo from MS?

anyways, yes there is, i know in ensim, in cpanel im not so sure but try thiss and see

http://ipaddresstoserver/~namebasedaddress

the name based address would be like this /~virtuavideo.com/

-edit- shoot read this wrong everythig i just said was already stated ;p, note to self: limit it to 15 things at once
LSVF
I think you do this: http://ip#/~username/
tomservo
No sorry not the tomservo from MS. The http://ipaddress/~user still doesn't work for me. It used to work in Ensim when I had one of those boxes but not under CPanel for some reason. I just need a way for people to access their site immediately after sign up.
LSVF
Ensim assigned them a Site# and called them Admin#. For example: http://ipaddress/~admin# or http://ipaddress/~site# http://ipaddress/~sitename.com would get you into their acct.

In Cpanel, you put their username only -- not the domain, admin# or site# like Ensim. With an Ensim client you gave them a user name to get their email with and they used that to access their email account. THAT is the user name you should use. For example http://66.66.666.66/~mary/

This works for me. Hope it works for you.

Also rememer, you can only have ONE user named "mary" (example) on your whole Cpanel system.

caveat: I am a Cpanel noobee. I think I am right but defer to those with more knowledge -- rolleyes.gif

Aha! I have a domain on that ip saved as an ip account and that is messing everything up. The ip/~user works for that account (naturally) but not for the others. I am a cpanel noob obviously myself. Thanks for the help!

ip# is ipaddress - yeah we're not putting a '#' in there.
