Full Version: Headsurfer is a spammer

Okay, I admit, that's a shock-value headline at best, but here's the complaint:

I've now gotten three e-mails telling me that I can upgrade any Ensim 3.1 server I have to Ensim Pro Unlimited for the limited time price of $29 setup and $10 a month. That's all well and good, but I don't have any Ensim servers. It's a totally irrelavent e-mail to me, yet Headsurfer (or whomeever in sales who is speaking the Headsurfer's name in vain) has seen fit to send me the e-mail and two follow ups since it seems like I haven't jumped at the seemingly irresistable deal that I don't qualify for.

There's no removal instructions at the bottom of the e-mail, and I don't recall opting-into any such list about Ensim offers. I'm all for RS sending me notices that affect me, but this sales pitch is far outside of the strike zone. Once or twice I can live with, but three times gets you a rant on the board... so there you go.

I have to agree, quit sending this crap to me...
CornFused
Idiots can't even update their own name(oops, not Rs anymore).....THIS IS TRULY SPAM!
LighthousePoint
Their PBX systems still say "For Rackshack, press 1".

I disagree with your assessments that this is spam, however, I do feel that they should add some way to opt out of receiving special offers in the members section. Of course, an email is determined to be spam by the person receiving it so I do understand what you are saying and thats why I agree that there should be a way to opt out.

On a side note, CornFused is it necessary to be so belligerent all the time? I'd say most people here are adults or close to it, the least we can all do is act like it. Civility really is a small thing to ask for, and in fact shouldn't have to be asked for, in an adult and professional environment.

Please Headsurfer ... spam me icon_smile.gif ... I love your emails even If the info there does not concern me icon_smile.gif.

Seriously now ... having received 3 emails from Headsurfer makes you so angry? ... just delete them and forget about it.

My post makes you so angry your had to reply? Just click another link and forget about it... icon_biggrin.gif

I'm upset enough to have started this thread here, but it's not like I'm trying to get 207.218.223.142 blacklisted. I'm sure a bunch of complaints from customers here will be able to get HS and friends to realize the error of their ways and not do it again...
Xterminator
It's just 3 small text email. Get used to it. I get 200+ spams a day with most of it being pr0n + naked pictures adveritising their sites. Everything I sign up for a new email address, it starts coming in again. Now give the kind man HeadSurfer with a big heart a break.

We post in the forum and don't email we get complained on .....we send emails and don't post in the forum we still get complaints......who knows maybe esp would be better....

Our apologies for the emails you received 'LostCluster' if you do not have Ensim please disregard the emails or delete them. If possible I will find a way, maybe not now but for future reference, to make sure that your email is excluded from any future offers.
I would like the account info on both yourself and 'Cornfused' so that I can lookup the emails that need to be excluded from those offers.

Cornfused all I will say in regards to your post about 'idiots' these 'idiots' as you call them currently have 17,000 servers in their datacenter.

While I can say that we do appreciate you bringing where 'RackShack' is still mentioned as we are working to meet the OCT. 1st deadline for getting everything switched over to EV1Servers.net as per our Press Release

Thank you,
ljprevo
I think RS, oops EV1S should have two mail list.

A special announcement list (such as special deals, etc)

And a information list. email pertaining to the service you get a RS, oops again, EV1S

Outages, upcoming outages, ahhh, fires, icon_biggrin.gif , etc.
Sheps
Technically it is not spam, since you are a customer, and it is a upgrade concerning services that may/may not affect you.

So, grin and bear it... icon_razz.gif

I don't mind them at all. I am actually glad he sent the second one, since it reminded me to atleast go buy the license.

Actually I think any networking company has it in their AUP/TOS the right to notify you in email about issues, offerings, upgrades.

If there was a way to have a maling group for people that have this server package and control panel install etc.. then I am sure it will be nice.

Maybe something like this can be set up on the sign up page for FUTURE signups.....

however as Mario pointed out.. 17,000 servers already online and in use.....
they would have to set up an "Opt IN " page somewhere for people to sign up for these emails....and I know that Shay's plate is over loaded, so this happening in the near future may not fly.

Ever hear of "email filtration rules"? learn em, use em, OBEY them

I would ask that you email your account information so that I can find out why you received this email. The email was only supposed to be sent out to those customers that had servers with 3.1 so I would like your account info to find out why you did in fact receive this email.

Thank you,

While I appreciate getting contacted about special offers I was kind of surprised that I reieved two emails about it.

I understand the business aspect of it but with the first email I felt "hey thats nice of them to alert me", second one I was thinking "hey I think they just want more of my money."

I'm sure the pros out weigh the cons of doing a second mailing about it, but its something you may think about considering... if not its not a big deal to me I know where the Delete key is.

No apologies for sending this. For those that do not take advantage of this special offer, it will cost 200-300% more after this expires.

Well, I didn't want you guys to get away with sending the e-mails and not getting a complaint. icon_razz.gif

Yeah, I agree, the ESP-based marketing protocol has got to be the way to go. I'll send any future marketing complaints to you via ESP too. What brain wavelength are you guys on, Mario? cool.gif

Never ceases to amaze me....some people just have to complain about everything.

Personally, I want RS to send me information about everything they are offering. Do I want them to try to decide what I might find important? No, send me everything and I'll sort out what I'm interested in and what I'm not. But I don't want to miss an opportunity because a few people feel special offers from their datacenter is an inconvenience.

In fact...I would say...send me MORE offers HS! icon_wink.gif

Okay, I guess I guess "IDIOTS" was a little strong, how about "BIG DUMMIES"....

My problem is not receiving email from HS, but receiving it 3 times, like you are trying to FORCE something on me. I got it once, read it and understood it, and then deleted it. When you send the same content then it becomes somewhat irritating and approching SPAM...

Besides this offer has been made prior, or something similar to it. It seems you guys and really want us off of 3.1, and will irritate the PISS out of us to do it.

And as for your 17,000 servers? Well good for you, you still have made many bloopers, and blunders along the way, and for that reason alone I reserve the right to affectionately use the term IDIOT!icon_razz.gif

That's why we love ya!

Oh an dby the way, I have recieved a coupel of these emails and I already upgraded way back when....icon_wink.gif

Oh well, I can handle "spam" from HS. He's whitelist worthy. On a different note, I recieved some of these mailings to an email address that has never been used with EV1 so I am wondering how they got that email address and why not use the one I provided? I sent HS an email about it that inbox is probably a blackhole.

I received three of these messages myself. I really think Rackshack should give us an option to receive these emails or not.

These 'upgrades' are not crucial, sure we should upgrade but we do not have to and the raise in price later on to upgrade is our burden.

I appreciate emails when they are necessary, but I'm not interested in upgrading to Ensim 3.5. Especially when I get mulitple emails, I can make a decision with one email.

Give us an option in receiving emails for offers and another option to receive important emails not regarding offers. If you can't be bothered giving us such an option then don't mail at all. As it seems there is no way to easily opt-out, which makes it look highly suspecious of legalized spam.

If I did something similar like this and got reported to Rackshack I guarantee there wouldn't be any discussion but an email from abuse telling me to either stop or get my box pulled right?

Probably the best option as of now is to report rackshack to spamcop.net if you really think it's spam. I have not done so as it's a bit far but it is your option if you think they are spamming you.
Doobla
Yeah, it'll probably be the guy who has 30 servers here and totally depends on RS for everything that reports them too.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

Another solution: You might want to create mail filters icon_wink.gif

You guys that are complaining really disgust me. You're pitiful.

Why are you even here?

When I take the time "complain", as you put it, I am offering RS valuable insight from a customer's perspective; this is information that can be helpful in improving their service.

I have a MBA in ecommerce management. Basically, they are receiving expert advice for free.

And as for your remarks about "disguist" and "pitiful", I'll just say you are not allowed to personally attack people here in such a childish manner.

I do not see what all the deal is... Headsurfer lets you know about good deals... thats been the way he has done business.. giving his customers the best deals he can.

As pointed out in other posts.. email filtration rules.. works for me icon_smile.gif you do not see the email in your inbox but you DO get it..

(waiting on the sale to kick in to get a server to play with)

Well, I am glad he sent as many as he did. For one, I missed the first one. So, it is good to have them send 2+ offers, otherwise you might miss one

Hi Mario,

I have 4 boxes with RS now, and they are plain RH or cPanel, yet i still received the "Rackshack Special Offer" email on the 5th, 16th and 25th of September....
InternetPEI
Geez.. If HS sent you an email offering you V1@grA or something, yes..spam..

HS sending you emails regarding special offers to help save you money? NOT SPAM..

If you dont like their rules, why are you here?

I welcome any emails from RS & HS that lets me know of special features and offers since I dont always find time to come here often lately.

I must say that ev1 sales and headsurfer's rude comments to users complaints are wrong and not in the best interest of the majority of the rackshack community and their business.

I thought that ev1servers would actually start listening to complaints but apparrently not.

I think your competition will catch up with you headsurfer if you don't start treating your customers with respect that submit complaints.

I know your never going to apologize and you'll probably ban me from using your network if i submit more negative comments like you've banned other users whom wich ive spoken to.

As for the vocal headsurfer-supporters, thats fine, debates and arguments are always good. Nobody seems to believe me that critisim is good for a business.

Keep treating your customers like @$$s and you'll be labeled as that no matter how many millions you people have.

As for you, Robert, for saying that i need to look at the bright side of things, well im sorry, but that's like walking and ignorring something. It's like how some people say you need to stop criticising and think about the brighter side of things is flawed. THat would be different if someone was annoying saying that a person B!t^h#$ all the time and never look at the postive things, well alot of people do and saying that is just wrong...wich people will say but they dont ever think about my positive posts or anything just my negative ones that bring attention.

I hate it how millionairs just ignore the unsatisfied and just ignore it.

When i first came to rackshack i contemplated it, I went into the forum and saw that headsurfer mis-spelled ALOT of words, saw teh all the time and saw complaints. I thought to myself, would a CEO proof-read his announcements? anyway.. the prices persuaded me.

People are complaining about complaints.... oh my goodness

Anyway, *******************
Read Ev1Servers.net's policy on e-mail. Does it say they can e-mail you special offers? If not they ARE Spamming and doing something illegal. Usually when someone signs up for a service it gives you options to receive special promotions. I guess ev1servers.net wants to "revolutionize" the e-mail sending practice from companies.

If its in their policy that they can send you any e-mail they want then I would not complain about spam, I would complain about OPTIONS.

If you don't like it then leave their service, they don't care about 1 less customer they already have like 17,000 servers and could care less about an individual

As for the 17,000 server gloats I really could care less if you had 17,000 I wish you had less so you would care more about issues raised by individual customers. As we learned, companies with high volume of sales don't make them PERFECT and WONDERFUL and automaticly better. If you disagree with that then I'd say read a book on common sense.

I expect alot of people to defend this and insult me in many exciting ways, ohwell, I voiced my opinion and I think Robert should defend his company and apologize to keep business from concerned inviduals.

I respect "headsurfer" and I expect respect as well. However, I feel that ev1server.net should spend more time addressing user complaints than making EXCUSES

ev1servers.net should adopt a policy to respond to complaints in a better way not in a rude way. I've seen small companies handle the way they treat customers much better. Goahead and ban me but nobody can ignore the facts.
scuro_falcao
then again, you have people complaining about ordering.. ev1server.net must be pretty proud when people are complaining about not sending you money..lol icon_biggrin.gif
Erwin
If HeadSurfer wants to email me to tell me he is reducing prices or tell me about discounts, he is free to do so, because I am a customer of his. If I am not a customer, and he emails me, then I would consider it spam. Otherwise, it's called notification of special discounts from your host.
seven
Ah, should have known the other person that the word "excessive" fits would show up.

Don't you ever have anything better to do than criticize RS/Ev1? If you hate so many things about it why don't you get to packing and save us all the grief of reading your terribly long and boring endless ammounts of complaints.

Yes I know you'll probably stand behind that "constructive criticism" crap that others stand behind, but in reality I feel you guys are just never satisfied with anything. Nothing can ever be too good for you.
LighthousePoint
I think that "constructive critisizm" should always be welcomed. Whining, and complaining should not. I am not saying this is complaining, just saying that there is a distinction.
R-n-R
Are you guys serious! icon_razz.gif This is a JOKE right, or was it you meant to say 300 or maybe 3000 emails?! You are wasting time on this forum over 3 EMAILS that takes maybe 3 seconds to delete? MY GOSH MAN! Get over it!

We have REAL SPAM problems out there, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist or a MBA Grad to figure out getting email from HS, when your a customer, isn’t a problem. And your complaining about this?! WHOA! Glad your not one of my customers I would pay you to leave.

We strongly agree that we always welcome "Constructive Critisism" however whenever you have some very un-professional critisism it tends to lose it's point. That being said this thread is no longer of any use.

Anyone that received the email in regards to the upgrade that never had or does not have Ensim 3.1 if you would forward us an email to look into why the email was sent to you.

Thread Closed.
