Full Version: SSL Certificate missing

I just went through the process of requesting a new certificate to be used as the default for the server.. selected 512bits, put in all the info and clicked "request"

It generated a CSR and a private key but no "Certificate".
Also when you go look at the SSL cert in plesk, all the fields are blank (bits, country, name etc.)

So I used that CSR and purchased a Geotrust SSL through ev1 and uploaded the new CA certificate they sent me.

Problem is plesk will not let me select that certificate and use it as the server's default.
It has a private key, a CSR and a CA Certificate but under "Certificate" it says

Component is absent

Any ideas ?

Update .. I just setup a fixed IP on the server but when I go into IP Aliasing, it only shows me the default or a self signed certificate .. the cert I purchased and installed from geotrust is not available to be associated with the fixed IP.

Thanks,
Sam

Finally got it to work ...

It turns out in plesk 6, after you generate a CSR then purchase a cert and install it ... it will not let you select that cert as the server default or for any other domain name.

When it listed the SSL cert for the server at the bottom .. here is what it showed :

1. CSR part supplied
2. Private key part supplied
3. Certificate Part NOT supplied
4. CA Certificate part supplied

Yet the default on the server or a self signed cert will show only 2 and 3 supplied.

The solution was to click "Add" again to create a new cert, then copy/paste the Private key and the Server Cer that was emailed from geotrust. Now the new cert displays :

1. CSR part NOT supplied
2. Private key part supplied
3. Certificate part supplied
4. CA Certificate part NOT supplied

Now you can use this new certificate profile for IP aliasing and fixed IP domains.

Aloha,
Sam
