What would you say the speed / resource difference is between

Intel Pentium 4 2.0 1 GB 80GB 700GB cPanel

and

Intel Dual Xeon 2.0 1 GB 73GB SCSI 700GB cPanel

or what's the fastest server you can get at RS?

Thanks

naturally a dual xeon is much more faster... and even faster with a scsi harddrive icon_smile.gif

just 1 xeon is able to beat a pentium 4

Intel Pentium 4 2.0 1 GB 80GB 700GB cPanel - harddrive only 7200rpm

Intel Dual Xeon 2.0 1 GB 73GB SCSI 700GB cPanel - harddrive is 10K rpm!

Would one of these be better then two P4's?

if you got enough budget, get dual Xeon (Xeon made for server CPU!) and Scsi harddrive icon_smile.gif

Do you mean 2 P4 machines, or a dual P4 machine? Because you canNOT have 2 P4 CPUs in one machine...

There is actually some advantages to 2 P4 machines, and 1 dual Xeon machine. Obviously the Xeon has better processing power because it can use both CPUs w/o network overhead. However, with the 2 P4 machines, each CPU has it's own bus -- so they can hypothetically access memory more quickly.

However, I would recommend the Dual Xeon box over 2 P4 boxes unless 2 boxes better suites your needs, as opposed to 1 beefy box.
