My files with DNS-zones are stored(kept) in a folder/var/named/. In a folder/var/named/there is a folder master/. For some reason some files with DNS-zones appear both in a folder/var/named/and in a folder/var/named/master/. And other files with DNS-zones appear only in a folder/var/named/.
Files stored(kept) in a folder/var/named/look like: domain.name.db.
Files stored(kept) in a folder/var/named/master/look like: domain.name.dns.
And domains work both those and others.
Questions:
What значают the files stored(kept) in a folder/var/named/also what the files stored(kept) in a folder/var/named/master/mean?
In what of distinction between these files?
It influences somehow work DNS-server?

Hi,
/var/named contains the dns resource record for your domain like name to ip mapping information for your domain.
/var/named/master this may be used to store the resource record for the dns master server. The updation is made to the master server and it is propagated to all the secoundary dns servers.

Hi,
/var/named/master files stores the information about the DNS master server for the domain with the resource record information. If there are more than 1 DNS server, one of the dns would be designated as the root server.
#/var/named/doamin.name.db contains the resource record for the particular domain like wise there may be similar files for other subdomains which are identified by the domain name associated with db file domain.name.db.
