Full Version: how do clients create clients?

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but I am new to Plesk and I have a question.
Is it possible to allow reseller clients to create other clients? (and not domain users, real clients)
If this isn't possible, is there a viable workaround solution anyone has figured out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is a way for clients to create clients nor do I know of a hack to do so... Just to let you know icon_smile.gif

I've seen this question on the plesk forums too and there were no usable answers either icon_wink.gif

i believe what you are talking about would be covered by the ensim reseller package. unfortunately this is not available from us at the moment, but if headsurfer sees you all asking for it you will be much more likely to see it here in the future. =)

Errumm...

I thought that this was one of the features of Plesk 2.0

If you log in as admin, select a client, click on the Preferences button and then the Permissions button you get a page that starts with:
[ ] Client can create domains

Isn't this what you are asking about? I haven't tried it yet (none of my clients are resellers), so I'm not sure what all functionality they would have, but I'm guessing this might be what you need.

Maybe I should create a test client that can create clients and see how it works.

Or... am I confused about this feature of Plesk?

Hmm, I don't think you are confused... Perhaps just about the terminology used. The procedure you explained is correct, but the client can only create domain users, not other clients.

So you do have a 3-level control panel - admin, client, domain user - and you can have resellers with all necessary abilities (clients). But a client can't create other clients, so a reseller can't have his own resellers.

Basicaly, that's the only limitation - besides the fact, that you can enter the address and other information of a client into a control panel, but you can't enter this for a domain user (customer). In the future, when Plesk offers integrated billing and other options, this might prove to be a weakness...

Thanks!

I see the difference now. Thanks for clearing it up.
