Hi There,

I am having the strangest problem. It appears that my name servers are working correctly in the sense that any standard domain name. (.com,.org,.net, etc).. is able to be accessed fine. However when I add a name server entry for a .co.nz site or .info site the name server doesn't resolve correctly.

According to http://www.dnsreport.com everything is good for the .com's etc, however these two don't appear to be working correctly.

A domain name on my server that IS working is: www.code-builders.com

One that appears to not be working is: www.spookyshaunt.co.nz

Both are on the same server using the same NS etc...

Note: Sometimes people are able to resolve the .co.nz and .info domains and sometimes not.

Any suggestions would be more then welcome.

Thanks!
Erwin
Enter your RS members area, click on "DNS Configuration", then on "Add Domains to Administer", submit those domains and see if that helps.

Hi There,

First of all, thanks for the response. icon_smile.gif , I really would like to not have my domains name servers pointed to rackshacks DNS. (doing what you suggested would require that right?). I would much prefer to have them pointing to my name servers if at all possible.

More Information:

I have also encountered in some instances people with .com and other standard domains complaining that they can access their site say on saturday and it is resolved fine.. then on say sunday it doesn't even resolve.. then on monday it resolves again...

As well as that, if I go to a ping service on the web and get it to ping: NS3.JUST-HOSTING.COM and NS4.JUST-HOSTING.COM some of the web service pingers will come back with a reply and some of them located in other parts of the world will not. They won't even resolve it.

Note: When I say "don't get a reply" I mean they say "I can't resolve NS3.JUST-HOSTING.COM and NS4.JUST-HOSTING.COM".

Now, call me silly but isn't the resolution of name servers handled by your domain registrar? e.g. I say "I want xx to be a name server" and then the domain registrar goes "Ok" and submits it to dns servers as "Hey DNS Server, a new name server is active called xx and it's I.P. is xx.xx.xx.xx".... so that it's always resolved. No? Yes? icon_smile.gif

Is anyone else having this problem? has anyone? or anyone...

I really do apprechiate any ideas and am willing to try just about anything. icon_smile.gif Thanks for the response so far.

Hi there,

I'm facing the same problem but on .ws domains.

I've contacted the support and they asked me to setup my own DNS server on my server.

But I didn't get that correct!

so, if any one have the solution pls. update this thread.

I had a problem recently at my registrar.
When I changed my name servers on a .info domain the system auto generated the following trouble ticket:

--------->
I received the following error message while I was assigning
NS2.mydomain.US to my domain registered in the .INFO registry :
''NS2.mydomain.US is a foreign unknown record for .INFO registry.''
Please create ns2.mydomain.us in the .INFO and let me know.
--------->
(I replaced the actual domain with "mydomain")

I had already used the registrar's system to register my name servers but maybe some of the new TLD's are not getting records created by the usual process.

So try a touble ticket with your registrar asking for a host record in the .whatever registry?

good luck
