ohh I was about to transfer all of my domains over.. but since it has their info under the domain, and if you can't change it, I would rather keep paying an extra $3 a year so I have full access to change whatever I want.. icon_sad.gif

Basically same thing I just posted in another thread:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will just stick with enom. $1.95 more a domain for me yeah, but I can handle it.

My customers don't seem to care that I charge $10.95/domain, they care about what is included with it(support, dns, email redirect, etc).

I can also create resellers and charge them $8.95 per domain they register and still make $2 a domain for basically doing nothing.

On top of that, each domain registered by us or through us is branded with our company name.("Registration Services provided by Our Company/ Support Email: support@ourcompany.com").

The $5 dollar deal RackShack offers is great IMHO, but for people like me, I will stick with what has been successful for us.

I dont think it's possible. The whois always shows information of the registrar that was used to buy the domain.

In the RS domain manage panel go to the "Reseller Contact" link. Theres a way to hide the plug for RackShack. Seems to work for me.

There's an option in the Rackshack Domain Control Panel to REMOVE THE RESELLER URL INFORMATION
xiexx
In the Rackshack Domain Control Panel for their 5usd domains, there's the option to REMOVE THE RESELLER INFORMATION (ie anything to do with Rackshack.net).

Registered a few domains yesterday, checked that box and the reseller information HAS GONE.

Way to go, Rackshack.

That is correct....

By logging into the 'Manage your domain' section you can go to the 'Reseller Contact' information and "hide" that information.

People really should explore the control panel complete before they point out what they think isn't there.

When you assume... icon_wink.gif

Or rackshack could turn it off by default for their account
Tucows reseller panel -> Support and Whois Information for your Customers -> Activate = No

IOW, RS is essentially reselling for openSRS or just using their API? What's the scoop, Mario?

I dont have a domain jet with RS.. but will move all domains to RS... thx for all the information guys !

Exactly, why do people care if RS name is on the domain whois page?

1st RS can't charge 5.00, then they can't do this, then they can't do that. Now they are dammned if they have a link back to them on the whois page.

I'm not getting it....

Its simple..

customer's will find rackshack, and buy stuff from there.. and not from us ;->
naveen
Even if u hide the 'Reseller Contact' info from control panel.
The rackshak will send mails directly to admin /billing contact of domains.
And they will know all the matter,
See this registration services is not for us [Domain resellers] icon_sad.gif

there are chances to loose hosting business by registering domins at rackshak for those client.

Most registrars do this.
naveen
Do take risk to loose ur hosting clients, for saving 2-3 $ in domain name.

I am registering only mine and frieds domain name here.

Most customers I deal with wouldn't know what whois was if it hit them on the head.
Whats a registrar ?
So do I own this name now ?
Why do I need a server ?
Whats bandwidth ?
Why can't I have an 80 Gig drive on my server ( virtual rolleyes.gif )

If you are registering the domain name for your customer, then you should be showing your self/company as the Admin contact - then you will get any emails sent (as you should).

You could easily use an email alias for the billing address (leaving the billing info as the customer) which routes to you - then you bill your customer at your own rate (i.e. customer01@yourdomain, customerdomain@yourdomain, etc.)

Fairly simple icon_biggrin.gif

As pointed out, most customers do not want or need to know any more information than the name of their domain and how to set up their email. If you are reselling the domain to them, they wouldn't bother to question it if you are providing them with good service...like RS/EV1 does for us! cool.gif

I like that idear, but some customer's dont.. If they pay $$ for a domain, they like to see the "customers name" and not my name in there ;-)

Their name will still appear in the Owner/Registrant field. You can put it in the Admin field too as long as the email gets to you - ever try to chase down important/timely domain emails through a client?

I haven't had anyone complain...in fact they are all too happy to let me control their domain names because they know it will "get done".cool.gif
nameslave
The bottom line is that your client's name appears as the Registrant (a.k.a. owner) of the domain name. I usually get my clients' consent for me to act as the Admin Contact on their behalf, which legitimizes things (instead of risking allegedly intercepting e-mail supposedly sent to them).

I don't like that whenever you type wrong login..
It will show ev1 information.

CyberSEAL,

I bought a TUCOWS account in hopes to do my own thing and found that I was lied to and the misrepresented their product and would not give me a refund. So I am out $100 and have nothing but aggravation to show for it.

They led me to believe they would help me with the setup so I could sell their domains but after paying the $100 they left me cold.

I also feel they have a very archaic interface...looks real amateur hour.

It is hard to compete in the domain sales arena when you have Yahoo offering $3 domains and other similar sales offers that pop up all the time.
