I'm actually very embarrassed to ask this but, "How do I get started"?
icon_sad.gif

I've got my new box with Plesk 6 on board, I type my domain name into my browser, and thre is the Plesk placeholder page. SSH'ed in, no problem, turned off Telnet and installed firewall, etc. Now I'm ready to upload my content BUT, how do I upload my site? Or I should say, WHERE do I upload my site.

I FTP in and go to httpd/vhosts/ htdocs/ there is the index.html but when I try to upload mine it says I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION. Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

Thanks in advance,

Tex
your site content will be at
/home/httpd/vhosts/domain-name/httpdocs, so if your trying to upload to the wrong directory you may not have permission there

also if your site is set up right you should see this message when you enter your url

This is the placeholder for domain your.site.com If you see this page after uploading site content you probably have not replaced the index.html file.

This page has been automatically generated by Server Administrator.

If you dont see this message then you have something wrong

also you can upload from plesk just login, goto domains, domain name you want to use and then file manager

Thanks so much for the reply Tex!
In my /home/httpd/vhosts/ folder I only see "deafult" and "webmail" I do not see my domain name. However, when I type in my domain name I see the automatically generated Plesk page though. ???

So do I need to do something to set up my domain name so it is displayed in the vhosts directory?

Thanks again,

it sounds like the domain you are entering is the default domain icon_smile.gif / the ip address

The problem is resolved, I think...
I set up the default domain the same way I would a hosted domain, and it seems to work now. I may have problems down the road but at least I'm up now. Thanks for all the help you guys.
