Full Version: Interchange Service Fails (new box)
The Planet Forums > Control Panels > cPanel/WHM

I just purchased my cpanel box for RS recently. There are currently no other websites but my own on this machine.

I would like to use Interchange, so I enabled the service from WHT and started up the service. However, it always fails, and tries to restart itself.

Is there any reasons why this is happening? Did i not install something that interchange requires?

I am using cPanel 7.2.1-R125.

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks,

From my experience and from what I've heard from others, Interchange and CPanel just do not work very well together. I'm not exactly sure why. We do offer Interchange to our clients, but stress that it does not work very well.

did you enable Interchange in both the Service Manager AND the Tweak Settings sections? if not, that would cause it to fail.

interchange is one of those things that just never runs good. I would suggest just totaly disable it. Interchange is wierd however and actually requires a reboot for it to be totaly disabled....

cpanel really needs to STOP offering interchange its just a giant mess

Don't mean to get this thread off topic, but wasn't CPanel going to add support for OSCommerce? I thought that was a fairly decent shopping cart, and we recommend it to our clients. It would be even better if there was an option to install it in the Control Panel.

OS Commerce is already available through Cpanel, using Fantastico.
eth00
and RS installed fantastico on all its cpanel servers by default

OSCommerce comes with cPanel anyway under 'Addon Scripts' but as mentioned it comes with Fantastico which comes free with your RS server icon_biggrin.gif

Indeed, but interchange is far more superior than oscommerce. Osc is just a set of php scripts, whereas interchange is a fully fledged server run ecommerce solution. It just so happens that cpanel b0rked it! I assume that interchange can be resurrected to work on a cpanel box, but let be honest, if you are having site that sells enough to need interchange, would you want the bloatedness of cpanel, or jsut run a plain redhat box?
